All American Amateur Burlesque
First Monday of the Month - 10pm
@ Galapagos - Williamsburg, NY

Why would a woman dress up as a bawdy, divorced, middle aged, Sinatra-loving show biz guy and host burlesque around the city? Because that's how you get all the ladies....

Galapagos' amateur burlesque night features drag king host Murray Hill and a bunch of unknowns competing against each other and the reigning champion for cash. June's contest included one perfect pin-up, a red light stripper, a fumbling surfer, a blushing boy, and a disco belly dancer. None of the acts were particularly hot, but I'm always up for checking out new performers, costumes, themes and props. I'd go again, just to see Murray make fun of the Williamsburg crowd and grill the contestants after their act till they run off stage with only their pasties in tact.
